Welcome to oceanutopia.co.uk. Oceanutopia has been formed to assist, support and highlight good people doing good things. Environmental issues are a primary feature within these pages and the oceanutopia art section has a gallery of arts and crafts which have been produced with keenly followed environmental ethics. Also there are tips on being green which highlight how you can make a difference environmentally and in the green lifestyle page, you can read about the work of Geoff Hensman who has worked to creating a self-sufficient life. He has utilised his land and skills in a way that incorporates solar and wind energy, solar water heating, gardening and ethical tree management. Whilst not everyone can commit themselves to self-sufficiency to the same scale as Geoff, the essence of his work is ecologically inspiring.

Oceanutopia supports many good causes and as surfers we actively takes part in beach cleans. These are an attempt to clean up the ever increasing amounts of debris that finds its way onto our beaches, from there it is taken to local recycling depots. The general waste that is picked up is widely diverse, its not just shipping waste that ends up on our beaches, which I suppose is what you'd almost expect, mind you what you'd expect is that no waste would be on our beaches at all, but unfortunately this isn't the case. The waste that is washed up on our shore is a wide selection of matter, with primarily plastic products the most commonplace. These are hugely detrimental to our marine life, as creatures such as birds can get caught up in it or eat it. Additionally, these products can take up to hundreds of years to break down, meaning they'll be causing grief to the oceanic ecosystem for generations.
